New Testament, Book of Mormon, and Modern Prophets: Truth about God can only be known through the Holy Ghost. Reason alone is insufficient, and will produce mistaken results. The New Testament states, "For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God....But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned." This witness of the Holy Ghost--a feeling of peace--comes through prayer, scripture study, and a sincere effort to follow and test the truth.

New Testament, Book of Mormon, Modern Prophets: God always wants us to learn truth about Him, but it is conditioned upon us seeking for it and striving to follow what we have already received. All persons are given a measure of truth at the time of birth through their conscience.

Everyone can know the truth about God if they seek for it and satisfy other conditions for learning it. They may learn it gradually, line upon line. Some Quran provisions may imply that some are kept from the truth by God, but that may merely be a restatement that they have not met the conditions for learning truth since such provisions seem to relate primarily to the wicked.

All men and women are able to know the truth. None are excluded. Therefore they are accountable to God for what they know. They know truth by two methods: (1) their conscience which is given by God to all mankind; and (2) by prayer, scripture study, and living principles they come to know even greater truths.

New Testament, Book of Mormon, Modern Prophets: No. In the New Testament book of Matthew, it states, "Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." The Book of Mormon confirms these teachings, "Enter ye in at the astrait gate; for strait is the gate, and narrow is the way that leads to life, and few there be that find it; but wide is the gate, and broad the way which leads to death, and many there be that travel therein, until the night cometh, wherein no man can work." Modern Prophets states, "Overcoming the world will always mean that we will have some beliefs that are ridiculed by the world."
