Torah, Book of Mormon, New Testament, and Modern Prophets: God is our loving Father, our eternal "Daddy." He loves us and wants our happiness. All commandments are given that we might be happier. They describe decisions and a way of life that brings peace and joy. The Book of Mormon describes a people who "lived after the manner of happiness" and states that "man is, that he might have joy." Men and women make mistakes and sin, however. This immediately or eventually leads to unhappiness. Through Jesus Christ and His suffering, repentance is possible. Repentance brings relief and peace to the suffering heart. This is the peace promised by Jesus Christ in the New Testament, "[p]eace I leave with you. My peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
